DFID launches public consultation to inform UK malaria business plan

More than 100 years on from the discovery, by British surgeon Ronald Ross, that mosquitoes transmit malaria parasites to humans, DFID (Department for International Development, UK) have launched a public consultation to garner feedback on an initiative to break the ongoing cycle of malaria, illness and poverty.

By the end of 2010 they promise a malaria evidence paper and a business plan detailing how the UK government will spend a promised £500 million per year  to help to reduce the burden of morbidity and malaria worldwide.

As they say on their website ‘ We would like your views on how, together, we can break the cycle of malaria.’  You can visit the site here to add your own comments or take a survey to provide feedback.
