This Week in PLoS Medicine: Physical activity and obesity risk; Towards an Equity-Focused Health Research Agenda
Three new articles published this week in PLoS Medicine:
Ruth Loos and colleagues report findings from a meta-analysis of multiple studies examining the extent to which physical activity attenuates effects of a specific gene variant, FTO, on obesity in adults and children.
J. Lennert Veerman discusses the implications for genetic screening of findings showing that physical activity substantially attenuates the effects of genetic variants predisposing towards obesity.
Piroska Östlin and colleagues argue that a paradigm shift is needed to keep the focus on health equity within the social determinants of health research agenda.
