PLOS Mental Health Special Seminar: Considering  a new standard for mental health crisis responses with Dr Rupinder Legha

***Trigger Warning – some of the contents of the seminar may be uncomfortable or triggering for some and includes discussion of mental health crises and fatalities***

PLOS Mental Health recently published an Opinion Piece from Psychiatrist Rupinder Legha in which she shared her experiences and her perspective of the potential risks associated with current standard practices for mental health crisis management. In this special seminar (see below), Rupi joined us to provide more context to the Opinion and to expand on some of the points that she had raised. We were also joined by PLOS Mental Health Academic Editor Professor Andre Faro who contributed further to the discussion, informed by his experiences in Brazil.

‘Knowing that there’s a journal like PLOS Mental Health….that is courageous enough to create an outlet to share ideas like this gives me reason and inspiration to write more papers that help us imagine new possibilities’

Dr Rupinder Legha

PLOS Mental Health will ensure that conversations around barriers and inequalities in mental health care such as this are continued and repeated for as long as they need to be.
