Members of the medical NGO Médecins Sans Frontières have provided  a perspective from across the world in 2013. As well as reporting on medical issues in extremis, writers from MSF have provided accounts of the challenges faced by doctors trying to provide care in difficult and volatile situations. In To Err is Humanitarian,  Leslie Shanks discusses how errors can be better reported against a backdrop of her experiences in the field in Rwanda.
