Healthier Water, Healthier People: An Approach to Improving Water Quality is a seminar sponsored by the Center for Strategic & International Studies Global Water Futures Project and will help kick off  World Water Week on 5 September 2010. Clarissa Brocklehurst, UNICEF’s Chief of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, will be the keynote speaker, focusing the seminar around increasing access to water supply, water quality, and household water treatment options – especially relatively simple and inexpensive interventions called HWTS (household water treatment and safe storage) that can substantially reduce the prevalence of diarrhea in populations. Other speakers will give their perspectives on work currently underway in developing countries.
